Liza Soberano Unveils the Exciting Trailer of ‘Lisa Frankenstein’—Coming to Philippine Cinemas

Screening Room

MANILA, Philippines—Liza Soberano unveils the trailer for her debut Hollywood film, “Lisa Frankenstein.” Following a brief introduction by Soberano, the trailer kicks off with her character, Taffy, sharing a car ride with her stepsister Lisa Swallows, portrayed by Kathryn Newton—the movie’s protagonist. Engaging in a conversation about boys, the scene provides a sneak peek into the dynamics of their high school student relationship.

The character of Taffy posed a unique challenge during casting, as director Zelda Williams, daughter of the late Robin Williams and Marsha Garces Williams, sought an actress capable of delivering the film’s most blunt and cringe-worthy lines with utmost sincerity and devoid of provocation or malice. In an interview with ANC, Williams, who is part-Filipina, shared that Taffy emerges as the favorite character for many viewers.

Academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody expressed, “Taffy is my favorite character. She serves as a beacon of positivity, and even when unintentionally condescending or tone-deaf, her intentions are always kind. She exhibits a protective nature towards Soberano, second only to the Creature in the film.”

In the world of “Lisa Frankenstein,” the year is 1989, and we follow the story of Lisa Swallows (Kathryn Newton), a socially awkward 17-year-old navigating the challenges of a new school and life following her mother’s passing and her father’s hasty remarriage. Amidst the upheaval, Lisa discovers solace in an abandoned cemetery near her home, where she tends to the grave of a young man deceased in 1837—a soul she inadvertently reanimates (Cole Sprouse).

Supported by her spirited cheerleader stepsister, Taffy (Liza Soberano), Lisa feels compelled to aid the revived companion in regaining his humanity. Her quest for this unconventional mission involves acquiring freshly harvested body parts and utilizing Taffy’s malfunctioning tanning bed.

Prepare for a delightful blend of humor, gore, and undead romance in “Lisa Frankenstein,” distributed by Universal Pictures International. The film hits cinemas on February 7, just in time for Valentine’s Day—a perfect treat for those seeking a unique cinematic experience! #LisaFrankensteinPH
