SINGAPORE—Multi-dimensional artist and producer yeule, unveils their latest offering, ghosts, a glimpse into their forthcoming album softscars slated for release on September 22nd via Ninja Tune.

‘ghosts’ is adorned with a steady guitar rhythm and enriched by layered vocals, weaving a tapestry from the vantage point of someone detached from the physical realm. Reflecting on the song, yeule explains, “In ‘ghosts,’ I explore a love free from obsession, an undying innocence akin to shattered memories and a sense of drifting emptiness. It’s a revelation of finding my own flesh after being hollow for so long.”

This announcement follows the release of their previous double single, “dazies,” a delicate instrumental piece where yeule graces the piano while offering hushed murmurs in the backdrop. In addition, the artist pays homage to their inspiration, Shunji Iwai’s Japanese film “Hana and Alice,” by covering “fish in the pool,” aptly reflecting yeule’s distinct artistic depth.

yeule’s ‘softscars‘ emerges as a riveting fusion of introspection and sonic exploration, blending cathartic punk riffs and ethereal electronics. Delving deep into their emotional scars, yeule crafts an audacious work that explores pain’s role in shaping their past and nurturing self-preservation instincts. With imagery of blood, flames, porcelain, and angel wings, yeule honors the transformative power of suffering.

Produced alongside collaborator Kin Leonn, with contributions from Mura Masa and Chris Greatti, the album’s transformative journey is guided by yeule’s versatile vocals, conveying both confidence and vulnerability. This release follows their acclaimed 2022 album, ‘Glitch Princess,’ lauded by Pitchfork as Best New Music.

A true multidisciplinary artist, yeule masterfully weaves classical influences, modern internet culture, esoteric elements, and personal experiences into their musical tapestry.
