MANILA, Philippines—During Paris Photo 2023, a prominent international art fair focusing on photography, OPPO, a global technology brand, and iconic camera manufacturer Hasselblad revealed their collaboration on the upcoming HyperTone Camera Systems set to debut in 2024.

Beyond aesthetics, these systems will revolutionize computational photography, marking a new era in mobile imaging. The first rollout of the HyperTone Camera Systems is slated for future Find series flagships, promising users an unparalleled mobile imaging experience.

OPPO Imaging Director Oliver Zhang expressed satisfaction with the positive reception of the Find X6 Series, attributing it to the HyperTone Camera System’s aesthetic focus. The Find N3 Series extended flagship-level imaging to foldables. Zhang is pleased to announce the evolution of the collaboration with Hasselblad, combining classic aesthetics with mobile technology to create a tailored aesthetic system for mobile imaging.

The Photography Aesthetics Feature Quantification Lab comprises 10% photography technicians, 50% professional photographers, and 40% color experts.

Through meticulous feature breakdown, strategic planning, and precise tuning, OPPO has established a groundbreaking photography technology development system, ushering in a new era in computational photography.

HyperTone Camera System

OPPO’s HyperTone Camera System, featuring the All Main Camera System, Image Engine, and ProXDR Display, provides end-to-end imaging capabilities for flagship experiences. Beyond the Find series, it extends to various OPPO products, ensuring consistent quality. The system introduces the industry’s first All Main Camera System, offering high-quality images day or night.

The HyperTone Image Engine prioritizes aesthetics, reducing digital artifacts and enhancing clarity by 30% with features like the Extra HD Algorithm. The ProXDR Display, recording 12 million pixels’ brightness, delivers up to eight times more on-screen dynamic range for a realistic photo viewing experience. OPPO is working on ProXDR compatibility with the Ultra HDR standard.

Hasselblad Portrait Mode

Hasselblad Portrait Mode, a cutting-edge innovation in computational photography, stands out as a leading industry feature, prioritizing aesthetics. Utilizing the HyperTone Engine, it delicately adjusts tones for a three-dimensional portrait, avoiding excessive brightening and preserving light and shadow details. The optimization with 45 times more skin tone colors ensures accurate skin tones, while the Bokeh Flare Portrait delivers a cinematic bokeh effect simulating optical out-of-focus effects.

In 2023, OPPO’s imagine IF Project aimed to push mobile imaging boundaries globally. The OPPO imagine IF Photography Awards 2023 received 700,000+ submissions from 51 countries. At the 26th Paris Photo event (November 9-14, 2023), OPPO, the sole smartphone participant, showcased outstanding images, including those from world-class photographers and award winners.
