Gone in 60 Seconds: Maine Mendoza Snatches Another Victory with Historic MAC Collab

Featured

The moment teasers of an upcoming collaboration between everyone’s favorite phenomenal superstar, Maine Mendoza and well-known cosmetics brand, MAC, broke out, it is safe to say that fans have long been looking out for the release of the fruition of this historic partnership with the brand.

Recently, in a post, MAC Cosmetics Philippines announced that the limited edition lippie, as expected, sold like pancakes–what’s more is that in its online release via Lazada, stocks ran out in just a minute. Talk about making history.

The caption read, “#MaineForMAC SOLD OUT ON LAZADA IN 1 MINUTE!! 😱😱😱 Didn’t make it to the cut? You still have a chance to get it this September 22 at SM Megamall and September 23 in all MAC Stores nationwide! 🖤 #MacMaker#MACCosmeticsPH

The nude lipstick shade, aptly named @mainedcm (referencing to the celebrity’s IG handle) is peachy beige with a matte finish. The collab, made possible with celebrity makeup artist, RB Chanco, who bridged the deal with Mendoza’s management and well-known cosmetics giant, has her as the only Asian in the roster of 12 influencers who were turned into MAC Makers. She wrote, “Opted for a nude shade with matte finish that would work well on a variety of skin tones. I want this to be the universal nude lipstick since you can wear it with anything— from casual to formal— at any time of the day regardless of the occasion! (You can also adjust the tone by wearing a lipliner underneath, if ever you find it too light or if you just want an extra pop!) Really excited for you guys to have it!”

Last January, Mendoza shared her trip to the Canada to visit the MAC labs. There, she shared the surreal experience in a post that read, “So happy to let you guys know that I am creating my own lipstick with @maccosmetics! Feels surreal to be chosen as one of the influencers and to be the first Filipina to have a lipstick collab with MAC. (Thanks so much, @maccosmeticsph!) Creating your own lipstick from scratch is tricky but I am so glad I was able to achieve the colour I wanted. I am sure you guys are gonna love it!!! Can’t wait for it to be launched! YAAAAY 💋✨ #maccosmeticsph

It was in August of this year when MAC Cosmetics’s global social media account revealed the list of influencers to come up with exclusive make-up releases including Nyma Tang, Sonjra Deluxe, Patricia Bright, Jamie Genevieve, Raquel Calderon, Paulina Goto, Kate Clapp, Ahood Alenezi, Palina Rojinski, Aida Domenech, and Nina Martins.

On Saturday, fans trooped to SM Megamall to get first dibs of the makeup following its successful online sale. In several comments to Rank’s official Instagram account, netizens report that the coveted lippie got sold out in less than an hour!

While MAC Cosmetics Philippines has yet to divulge numbers on the sale of the lipstick this weekend, it won’t come as a surprise if stocks of the exclusive release would run out with the immense influence and popularity of the actress-comedienne-host.

It won’t be the first time when Mendoza would single-handedly be the reason for a particular lipstick to be sold out. Back in 2015, at the height of the AlDub frenzy, MAC also confirmed that Ruby Woo shade of the cosmetics brand got sold out in 14 counters nationwide because she was seen wearing the same shade in the record-breaking noontime show.

Today, Mendoza’s lipstick shade hit Mac stores nationwide. And we won’t even be surprised if these get sold out yet again.
