Transformative Fusion: Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Integrates Generative AI Powered by Google Cloud

GLOBAL RELEASE—Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Google Cloud have unveiled a multi-year partnership, introducing Google Cloud’s generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology to Samsung smartphone users globally, starting with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series.

The collaboration marks Samsung as the inaugural Google Cloud partner deploying Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI through the cloud to their smartphone devices. Janghyun Yoon, Corporate EVP and Head of Software Office of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “After months of rigorous testing and competitive evaluation, the Google Cloud and Samsung teams worked together to deliver the best Gemini-powered AI experience on Galaxy.”

Samsung is the first to deploy Gemini Pro on Vertex AI for consumers, providing a multimodal experience that understands and combines various types of information. The Galaxy S24 series users will also benefit from Imagen 2, Google’s advanced text-to-image diffusion technology, offering safe and intuitive photo-editing capabilities in Generative Edit 2 within the S24’s Gallery application.

Additionally, as part of the partnership, Samsung is among the first to test Gemini Ultra, Google’s largest model for highly complex tasks. The S24 series will also utilize Gemini Nano, an on-device LLM delivered as part of the Android 14 operating system, for efficient on-device tasks.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, highlighted the opportunity for generative AI to enhance mobile experiences, stating, “With Gemini, Samsung’s developers can leverage Google Cloud’s world-class infrastructure, cutting-edge performance, and flexibility to deliver safe, reliable, and engaging generative AI-powered applications on Samsung smartphone devices.”
