MANILA, Philippines—After a successful run in May, Theatre Titas is excited to bring back Juan Ekis’ award-winning play for a limited two-weekend engagement this November.
Originally written in 2003, this one-act Palanca-winning play follows college friends Jigs and Yumi, who find themselves locked in a hotel room for 24 hours as part of an annual tradition with their barkada. To pass the time, they engage in a game of twenty questions, leading them to open up about their perspectives on love, life, and sex.

Despite being staged multiple times over the past two decades, this particular rendition of “Twenty Questions” is tailored for a younger audience. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, and with the playwright’s blessing, director Cheese Mendez has given the play a contemporary twist. This fresh interpretation explores how the themes of relationships from two decades ago resonate with today’s younger generation.
“Twenty Questions” has taken on a life of its own, with its enduring relevance evident in its previous sold-out run. In an era where love sometimes feels like a myth, the play serves as a reminder that it is real. Playwright Juan Ekis expresses his gratitude to Cheese and the Theatre Titas for bringing this story to life in a way that connects with today’s youth.
