Aklan Awaits: PPO’s Unforgettable Outreach Concert in Kalibo

MANILA, Philippines—Aklanons can anticipate an unforgettable musical evening as the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) presents “Hala Bira PPO sa Kalibo” on November 29, 2023, at 7 pm, in front of the Godofredo P. Ramos Park at the Aklan Provincial Capitol in Kalibo, Aklan.

Led by Dr. Herminigildo G. Ranera, the PPO will perform beloved pieces, including selections from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker Suite” and Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music,” along with surprises for the Aklanon audience.

Soprano Gerphil Flores-Libana and tenor Arman Ferrer will grace the concert as guest performers. The free event, presented by the Cultural Center of the Philippines in collaboration with the Local Government of Aklan, welcomes everyone to experience the joy of music.

“Hala Bira PPO sa Kalibo” is part of the CCP’s Outreach Program, promoting Filipino arts and culture values of Katotohanan (truth), Kagandahan (beauty), and Kabutihan (goodness). The program extends the CCP’s reach to regions, nurturing aspiring artists, fostering public engagement in art education, and facilitating cultural exchanges.

Established in 1973, the PPO has become the country’s leading orchestra, performing with renowned conductors and artists globally. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the PPO continues its outreach in Nueva Ecija on December 9 and Bulacan on December 18.
