GLOBAL NEWS—In 2023, Philippine theatre will witness an eagerly anticipated event as barbie dolls come to life in the film, Barbie. Directed by Greta Gerwig of Little Women and LadyBird, and written by Gerwig, herself, and Noah Baumbach, stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, who have long been hogging headlines as soon as announcements of their entry to the film have been made.
Gerwig, known for resuscitating timeless pieces with somewhat off-center interpretations, took the steering wheel to bring to the screens, the tale of the iconic global toy. As glossy as the trailer appears, we are excited and, to be honest, very curious on how the film will pan out given what one can expect from the Gerwig touch on the source material.
Joining Robbie and Gosling in the cast are Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Ncuti Gatwa, Issa Rae, Hari Nef, Michael Cera, Emma Mackey, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, Emerald Fennell, Sharon Rooney, Scott Evans, Ana Cruz Kayne, Connor Swindells, Ritu Arya, Jamie Demetriou and Marisa Abela.
