Netflix Brings Another Jaw Dropping, Dystopian Korean Series ‘Black Knight’

Screening Room

MANILA, Philippines—The Netflix series Black Knight is poised to have its worldwide premiere in May. In a dystopian portrayal of Korea that has been devastated by severe air pollution and is uninhabitable without an oxygen mask, the series follows the journey of refugee Sa-wol, also known as the legendary deliveryman 5-8, as he battles the all-conquering Cheonmyeong Group.

Adapted from a widely acclaimed webtoon, ‘Black Knight’ narrates the story of black knights, the delivery men who endanger their lives to transport essentials to people in a polluted and dystopian world, where strict social hierarchy is enforced. Starring Kim Woo-bin as the legendary delivery man and knight 5-8, the show has garnered significant enthusiasm from fans worldwide.

Kim Woo-bin expressed, “I felt immense happiness while filming this series, and I sincerely hope that our collective efforts resonate with the viewers, and they too relish every moment of it, just as I did.”

Impressive three actors—Kang You-seok as a young boy who idolizes 5-8, Song Seung-heon as the sole heir of the Chunmyung Group, and Esom as a major at the Defense Intelligence Command—star in the show.

The characters’ stories are brought to life as this dream team works together to help them live in a post-apocalyptic world. The series is helmed by director Cho Ui-seok, widely known for his work on critically praised movies like Master, Cold Eyes, and The World of Silence.
