EXO’s Doh Kyung-Soo to Star in an Upcoming Epic Action Adventure Movie, ‘The Moon’

GLOBAL Release—Renowned for his multifaceted talent, Doh Kyung-soo, an ardent aficionado of space movies, harbored an ambitious dream of contributing to a film set in the cosmos. The accomplished actor, recognized for his roles in notable works like “My Annoying Brother”,Along with the Gods”, and the acclaimed TV series “100 Days My Prince”, now graces the highly anticipated Korean film The Moon.

In The Moon, an enthralling, grand-scale action adventure, Doh broadens his acting horizons, portraying the role of Sun-woo, a lone Korean astronaut marooned on the lunar surface. An ex-SEAL member and a molecular physics expert, Sun-woo embarks on the Narae-ho space program, driven by his father’s unfulfilled aspirations. However, an unforeseen mishap turns him into the sole survivor of the expedition, setting the stage for an intense and captivating narrative.

With a firm belief in the script’s excellence, the young actor embraced the challenge of portraying weightlessness on screen in The Moon. Doh aims to artfully depict Sun-woo’s range of emotions, from the wonder of treading on the lunar surface for the first time to the daunting fear of isolation amidst the vastness of space, coupled with an unwavering determination to survive.

The director, Kim Yong Hwa, who reunites with the actor after their successful collaboration in the “Along with the Gods” movie series, is already impressed by the actor’s abilities. Kim recognizes the harmonious blend of Doh’s gentle demeanor and intense expressions, seeing an opportunity to reveal the character’s hidden passion and unwavering resolve, thereby leaving a striking impression.

The Moon unfolds as Korea’s inaugural manned lunar mission ends tragically due to an onboard explosion. Seven years later, a second spaceflight encounters malfunction caused by powerful solar winds, leaving astronaut Sun-woo stranded in space. Confronted with yet another potential catastrophe, the Naro Space Center seeks the help of former managing director Dr. Kim, portrayed by the award-winning actor Sul Kyung-gu, to safely bring Sun-woo home. The film also stars Kim Hee-ae, known for her notable roles in “The World of the Married” and “Queenmaker.”
