GLOBAL RELEASE—Korean punk band Sailor Honeymoon makes a bold return with their latest track, “Bad Apple,” challenging the meticulously manufactured music of their homeland.
Following their explosive debut single “Cockroach,” which garnered attention and BBC 6 Music support, the Seoul-based trio explores an ugly vibe within friendship with “Bad Apple.” This track is a preview of their upcoming self-titled debut EP, set for release on May 3rd.
Recorded live in London with producer Luke Smith and mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer, the 8-track project captures Sailor Honeymoon’s noisy, loose, and improvised rock ethos. Accompanied by a surrealist visual directed by Kim Taeyoung, the band’s intention is clear—to create rebellious, unfiltered music in a country known for its commercialized pop industry.

The project, born from a collaboration between photographer Abi Raymaker and techno DJ Zaeeun Shin, rebels against the pursuit of flawlessness in the music industry. Their spontaneous approach, including instrument swapping and onstage collaborations with fans, has garnered attention in Seoul’s music scene.
“Bad Apple” delves into the realization of a friend’s closeted bigotry, prompting a decision to move on for the sake of shared values. After the success of “Cockroach” and a debut show in London, Sailor Honeymoon is set to perform at Great Escape 2024 as part of the First Fifty. Additional live shows, including Focus Wales and The Great Escape Brighton, are on the horizon, with more announcements to follow.
