SINGAPORE—The extraordinary Róisín Murphy has teamed up with Detroit techno legend Moodymann, who has masterfully crafted his unique take on an unreleased track titled “What Not To Do.” This original track is a glimpse of Murphy’s upcoming album ‘Hit Parade,’ a 13-track collection that brilliantly blends genres. The album is scheduled for release on September 8 through the esteemed record label Ninja Tune.

A revered figure in the Detroit techno scene, Moodymann resonates deeply with Murphy’s passionate affection for the genre. In his remix, the enigmatic producer seamlessly integrates his vocal contributions into the track, engaging in a mesmerizing call-and-response interplay with Murphy’s hypnotic lyrics, resulting in a genuinely extraordinary remix.

Expressing her excitement, Murphy shares, “I’m utterly enamored with Moodymann; he stands as one of my favorite contemporary artists. Having him create a remix for my work is a true thrill and honor. His mix is exceptional, prompting everyone to unleash their Jazz Dance moves.”

Presenting the latest rendition of “What Not To Do,” this remix marks the third installment in a series of imaginative reinterpretations from electronic music virtuosos. Prior contributors PAYFONE and Eli Escobar breathed new life into You Knew,” each offering distinctive interpretations that maintain an irresistible allure for dancefloors. Following “Fader” and its captivating self-directed video, hailed by Promo News as a pinnacle of Murphy’s illustrious career, the monochromatic aesthetic – reminiscent of early 90s Hip-Hop videos – masterfully conceptualized by Murphy herself, showcased 150 Arklow locals.

With further glimpses from the imminent album, “The Universe” and “CooCool” underscore the forthcoming project’s exhilarating diversity and vast scope. Murphy’s innate polymathic prowess crafts a uniquely distinct visual identity for each release, evident in the mesmerizing ‘Hit Parade.’ The album artwork, curated by Murphy, features her seamlessly melded into an AI-generated image by artist Beth Frey, complemented by graphic design by Bráulio Amado and commissioned by creative studio Object & Animal, known for their work with artists like FKA Twigs, Caroline Polachek, and Shygirl.

Collaborating with DJ Koze, the album radiates lively melodies and creativity, diverging from 2020’s “Róisín Machine.” Murphy’s live performances continue to evolve, showcasing her innovative spirit and boundless energy.

Murphy’s musical journey began in Ireland, and after an exploration of different music scenes, she achieved fame with Moloko before embarking on a celebrated solo career. Her original version of “What Not To Do” serves as the album opener, inviting listeners to explore the album’s diverse dimensions and expansive sound.
