All the Museums and Galleries to Visit for that Cultural Odyssey through CCP Pasinaya 2024

MANILA, Philippines—This National Arts Month, it’s high time to embark on the hop-on, hop-off museum tours with CCP Pasinaya’s Paseo Museo on February 3 and 4. In collaboration with numerous museums in Metro Manila, the country’s largest multi-arts festival offers a cultural and artistic experience, providing insights into Philippine history, heritage, contemporary arts, and more.

With Paseo Museo, explore as many museums and galleries as you like, contributing by paying and donating what you can. Hop on the CCP shuttle van and journey through these 15 museums and galleries.

1. NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE PHILIPPINES

The National Museum of Fine Arts features exhibitions by classical Filipino masters and National Artists for the Visual Arts, showcasing renowned masterpieces like Juan Luna’s ‘Spoliarium’ and Félix Resurrección Hidalgo’s ‘The Assassination of Governor Bustamante.

2. FORT SANTIAGO AND CASA MANILA

In collaboration with the Intramuros Administration, trace Dr. Jose Rizal’s footsteps at Fort Santiago and the Rizal Shrine Museum, featuring memorabilia of the Philippine National Hero. Explore the historic architectural heritage at Casa Manila with its distinctive bahay na bato structure.

3. GSIS MUSEUM

Since 1996, the GSIS Museum has featured a diverse art collection, including works by National Artists for Visual Arts like Fernando Amorsolo’s ‘History of Philippine Music’ mural, alongside exhibitions highlighting emerging Filipino talents.

4. GALLERIA DUEMILA

Since 1975, Galleria Duemila, one of Manila’s oldest art galleries, has focused on showcasing Filipino and ASEAN contemporary artists, along with modern masters like Fernando Amorsolo, Fernando Zobel, Jose Joya, H.R. Ocampo, among others.

5. ASIAN INSTITUTE OF MARITIME HISTORY (MUSEO MARITIMO)

Discover the vibrant history of Philippine seafaring and marine heritage at Museo Maritimo, home to a diverse collection of marine art, ship models, and nautical artifacts.

6. MUSEO MARINO

Dive into the rich maritime history of the Associated Maritime Officers and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines-All Japan Seamen’s Union (AJSU-AMOSUP) at Museo Marino. The museum pays tribute to Filipino seafarers through exhibitions and displays, featuring replicas of vessels they serve on, from cargo ships to car carriers.

7, MANILA CLOCKTOWER MUSEUM

Transformed in 2022, the iconic clock tower designed by Architect Antonio Toledo offers an immersive journey into Manila’s history. Accessible through Manila City Hall, the museum provides a multi-sensory experience, showcasing changing exhibitions in visual arts, design, and fashion.

8. PWU SFAD GALLERY

Nestled within the Philippine Women’s University, the School of Fine Arts and Design Studio Gallery serves as a dynamic space for exhibitions, featuring works from PWU alumni, students, faculty, and organizations. It stands as a laboratory for academic study, artistic exploration, and inquiry.

9. MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART AND DESIGN (MCAD)

Immerse yourself in contemporary art at MCAD, where exhibitions and cultural activities explore the intersection of art and technology. Discover the possibilities of new media through diverse showcases.

10. ADAMSON UNIVERSITY MUSEUM

With two wings, the Vincentian Wing traces the history of Adamson University from 1964 to the present, while the Founder’s Wing delves into the life of Dr. George Lucas Adamson and the early years of the Adamson School of Industrial Chemistry and Engineering.

11. DESTILERIA LIMTUACO MUSEUM

Uncover the rich history of the Philippines’ oldest distillery at Destileria Limtuaco Museum. Delve into insightful narratives about the establishment’s heritage and the individuals driving this century-old business.

12. BAHAY TSINOY

Explore the cultural identity of the Chinese-Filipino community at Bahay Tsinoy’s Kaisa-Angelo King Heritage Center. The museum documents the history, lives, and contributions of the ethnic Chinese in Philippine history.

13. CCA BENILDE

The De La Salle – College of St. Benilde’s Center for Campus Art (CCA) explores the intersections of art, design, society, communities, and the environment through diverse exhibitions. It features works and collaborations with the Benilde student body.

14. ILOILO MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART (ILOMOCA)

Pasinaya extends to Iloilo City this year, offering a visit to the first museum in the Visayas dedicated to modern and contemporary art, the Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art (ILOMOCA).

15. FILM DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL OF THE PHILIPPINES CINEMATHEQUES

Immerse yourself in cinematic experiences at FDCP Cinematheques in Manila and Iloilo City, serving as alternative theaters showcasing diverse content offerings.

CCP Pasinaya’s Paseo Museo tours run from 9:30 am to 4 pm on February 3 and 4, 2024. The multi-arts festival spans CCP Complex, Circuit Makati, partner museums in Metro Manila, ILOMOCA in Iloilo City, and Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
