Melrose Avenue Welcomes Tory Burch’s Innovative Retail Experience

Fashion & Style

Los Angeles—Renowned designer Tory Burch has joined forces with the creative mind of Humberto Leon to unveil an imaginative concept store on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. This collaboration extends beyond fashion, incorporating the captivating animal portraits of German photographer Walter Schels, a prominent feature in Tory’s Resort 2024 collection.

As visitors approach the boutique, they are greeted by a playful spectacle along Melrose Avenue—a large-scale game of cat and mouse unfolds with Schels’s mouse portraits adorning the exterior walls, while inside, a mid-meow cat steals the spotlight. The interplay of art and fashion continues with a shag carpet covering floors, displays, and structural beams, cleverly mimicking a cat tower.

Humberto’s artistic touch extends further with commissioned ceramic seats by Aranza Garcia of Chuch Estudio in Merida, Mexico. Positioned in clusters throughout the space, these pink seats add a touch of whimsy. Iconic pieces from the collection, such as the Pierced mule, Lee Radziwill Double Bag, and the new Kira Diamond Quilt Shoulder Bag, are showcased on the seats and nestled into shag-covered shelves and benches.

The lighthearted approach to merchandising is evident in Humberto’s vision, emphasizing diverse ways of wearing and styling clothing. This includes a delightful mix of runway fashion with everyday items like fleece, embracing the idea that every piece in one’s closet holds equal value.

Tory expresses admiration for Humberto’s creativity, allowing him the freedom to experiment and infuse his unique perspective into the space, photography, and collection. The boutique will host the first drop of Tory’s Spring 2024 collection, featuring standout pieces like the Hoop dress, goddess dress, and Pierced wedge.

Adding an extra touch of exclusivity, Tory and Humberto present a special Melrose capsule collection—a range of T-shirts, sweatshirts, and totes adorned with abstract Schels portraits of the cat and bunny. Located at 8483 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, this enchanting boutique will remain open throughout the year while the Tory Burch flagship on Rodeo Drive undergoes renovation.
