MANILA, Philippines—It’s time for the most awkward dinner imaginable—again. Repeat runs have never been as timely and relevant with the highly-anticipated return of one of the most well-received one-act plays of 2022.
The stage is set for the return of “THE RECONCILIATION DINNER“, written by Floy Quintos and directed by Dexter M. Santos, this time housed at the Power Mac Center Spotlight, Circuit Makati from May 13 to 28, following rave reviews and applause last November of 2022.
This month, as the nation marks a full year since the life-changing elections of May 2022, off its talked-about staging before the end of last year, “The Reconciliation Dinner”, a full year since the elections, boldly asks what has changed? “Masaya ba tayo sa nangyayari sa bansa ngayon?”

The acclaimed dark comedy traces the relationship of two dear friends, Dina Medina, and Susan Valderama, and how their political choices affect their very lives and families, trying to heal unspoken hurts, suspicions, disbelief about the choices of those they thought they knew well. In light of the 2022 elections, the play zooms in on the lives of the close family friends, who are forced to confront their personal differences amid the looming political turmoil in the Philippines.
Despite the seriousness of the play’s subject matter, laughter and comedy made “The Reconciliation Dinner” relatable to all audiences, boasting of a powerhouse ensemble of actors led by Gawad Buhay Awardee (Female Lead Performance in a Musical) by Stella Cañete-Mendoza and seasoned TV, film, and theater actor Frances Makil-Ignacio. They are joined by regulars in the Philippines theatre scene including Randy Medel Villarama, Jojo Cayabyab, Nelsito Gomez, Mica Pineda, and Phi Palmos.

Joining Quintos and Santos on their sixth theatre collaboration (previous works include “The Kundiman Party”, “Angry Christ”, “Ang Huling Lagda ni Apolinario Mabini”, “Ang Nawalang Kapatid”, and “Collection”) are John Batalla (lights), Mitoy Sta. Ana (set and costume), Arvy Dimaculangan (sounds), Steven Tansiongco (video and poster), and Jojit Lorenzo (photography).
