MANILA, Philippines—Due to overwhelming public demand following its sold-out run, BAWAT BONGGANG BAGAY, the Filipino adaptation of Duncan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe’s Every Brilliant Thing, is set to make a limited return this September 2023.

Multifaceted artist, comedy icon, and master impersonator Jon Santos will reprise his role, captivatingly performed during the recent SANDBOX FEST 2023, bringing back this humorously touching play to the stage. Witness BAWAT BONGGANG BAGAY during its exclusive engagement from September 15 to 24, 2023, at the Zobel De Ayala Recital Hall, Maybank Performing Arts Theater, Bonifacio Global City.

Santos, acclaimed for his impact on entertainment, returns to a chorus of acclaim. Hailed as “The Best Medicine in Bawat Bonggang Bagay” by ABS-CBN News, Santos masterfully infuses both depth and levity, striking the perfect balance between poignant and heartwarming. Similarly, The Philippine Star lauds the Filipino-translated staging as a testament to Jon Santos’ brilliance.

BAWAT BONGGANG BAGAY (Every Brilliant Thing) is an interactive one-act play that delves into the story of a young child growing up alongside a parent facing mental illness. Having graced stages worldwide and translated into languages including Mandarin, Arabic, Spanish, and Hebrew, this production is a tribute to our innate resilience and capacity to find joy in the ordinary. The play uniquely engages the audience, enlisting their participation in telling its impactful tale.

The Sandbox Collective is honored to have collaborated with the award-winning playwright, translator, actor, and director Guelan Luarca, who skillfully crafted the Filipino translation of Every Brilliant Thing. Luarca received the 2022 Gawad Rolando Tinio Translator’s Prize from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

BAWAT BONGGANG BAGAY continues to facilitate conversations about mental health by spotlighting pertinent issues and creating a secure communal space where the audience becomes an integral part of the narrative. Jenny Jamora returns as director, having helmed previous runs and earning Outstanding Stage Direction for a Play at the 12th Gawad Buhay Awards.

Guiding the production team are The Sandbox Collective’s managing artistic director, Toff De Venecia; Anna Santamaria as operations and finance director; Sab Jose as marketing and PR director; and Maine Manalansan as design director. Collaborating members include Loreta Arroyo as a marketing and PR associate and Marielle Filoteo as social media associate.
