See Miss Universe-Philippines Break New Ground to the World’s First-Ever Beauty Pageant NFT Collection

Tech & Gears

MANILA, Philippines—It’s that time of the year again when the pageant industry and its faithful are on the lookout to crown their new royalties. This year, Miss Universe Philippines is looking at blazing the trail as the latest brand and the first beauty pageant in the world to ride the NFT (non-fungible tokens) wave. The global beauty pageant has just teamed up with Southeast Asian blockchain venture builder, RedFOX Labs, to launch the Miss Universe Philippines NFT collection.

NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are digital assets that can represent a wide variety of real-world concepts, among which is ownership over one-of-a-kind art, videos, in-game items, and other collectibles.

Forging a partnership with Miss Universe-Philippines, RedFOX Labs powers fans to own unique digital collectibles of their favorite candidates in the form of NFT cards, which showcase the top 30 beauty queens. Available on September 24 on the RedFOX Labs NFT Platform, it provides an exciting opportunity for adoring fans to buy NFT collectibles of their favorite beauty queens.

This isn’t the first time that famous brands have entered the NFT space. For one, the fashion industry has been looking for ways to capitalize on the buzz surrounding NFTs. As such, many notable, luxury premium brands like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Burberry are significantly turning to NFTs to promote their lines.

Gucci, earlier this year, released its first official NFT in a short fashion film to commence its Aria collection. It marks Gucci’s 100th anniversary and a well-celebrated creative collaboration with another renowned fashion house Balenciaga

Burberry serves as the first luxury brand to launch an in-game NFT collection, made in collaboration with Mythical Games within its flagship gaming title Blankos Block Party that showcases what is known as digital vinyl toys, or Blankos, that inhabits a blockchain. The brand’s limited-edition NFT was called Sharky B, which is a shark figurine garbed with the new TB Summer Monogram that are made available to be sold and upgraded in-game.

Louis Vuitton also initiated a mobile game, Louis the Game, where players are set to collect 30 free NFTs as they follow the brand’s mascot Vivienne to Paris for a birthday celebration. The said NFTs also serve as collectibles that cannot be purchased.

Dubbed as the ‘world’s first NFT-driven fashion brand’, Overpriced.™ has dropped a physical black hoodie that is embroidered with an expletive-laden logo in neon green graffiti font and a scannable code. It was sold on the digital art marketplace, Blockparty, reportedly at USD 26,000.

Pop culture icons are also no stranger to the NFT space including Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan, who minted and auctioned her first-ever NFT called “Lindsay Lightning Lohan” for $50,000 and donated the proceeds to charities that accept Bitcoin.

Popular talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has made her mark in the space by auctioning her first NFT, consisting of her own explanation of the asset on her world-famous show with an actual drawing of a cat she made. The collection netted DeGeneres $33,495, which she donated to food-relief organization World Central Kitchen.

As one of the world’s most iconic rappers and enduring artists of his time, Snoop Dogg‘s story has the perfect mix of grit and talent to make for an NFT worth collecting. He did this with his NFT collection called “A Journey with the Dogg”, which he auctioned off, where proceeds have been donated to emerging youth artists and Snoop’s Youth Football League.

The speculative market for one-of-a-kind NFTs has been booming. Blockchain NFTs are making inroads into high-fashion and premium lifestyle brands to reach new audiences, connect with customers, and grow their businesses.

With that said, the one-of-a-kind Miss Universe Philippines NFT collection honors the beauty pageant’s essence of empowerment and grace, while braving the new world. This coincides with other premium luxury brands that seek to renew that essence and connect directly with the fanbase.

With this partnership between RedFox Labs and Miss Universe Philippines, we are able to unlock genuine value for the fanbase to interact with the brand in an environment that celebrates beauty, art, and empowerment.
