UNIQLO 2020 Spring/Summer UT Collection is a 1000-Design Pop Culture Celebration

Manila, Philippines – In a recent announcement, global apparel retail giant, UNIQLO unveiled its range of turn-of-the-season UTs (UNIQLO T-shirts) for 2020 Spring/Summer packed with 1,000 designs highlighting pop culture influences and nods to iconic figures from art, music, movies, animation around the world.

Among the designs bannered in this season’s range of UTs, here are some of our favorites:

Minnie Mouse Redux

A highlight this season is LOVE MINNIE MOUSE by AMBUSH. This collaboration features a collection with the increasingly popular Ambush brand showcases Creative Director Yoon’s unique take on Minnie Mouse. Beyond UTs, UNIQLO is also launching stylish accessories.

From Tokyo, With Love

With Tokyo at the center of international attention this year, this UT collection showcases graphics with Japanese cultural motifs. Manga UTs this season include works from the renowned Ribon and Weekly Young Jump magazines, as well as original designs based on enduring masterpieces as GeGeGe no Kitaro and Tensai Bakabon.

A new Mickey Manga Art collaboration collection presents the popular Disney character as acclaimed artists Osamu Tezuka, Fujio Akatsuka and Kotobuki Shiriagari reimagined him. Also available are specially designed UTs commemorating the 40th anniversary of Mobile Suit Gundam, as well as designs showcasing how Ultraman has evolved since the 1960s.

Brand It!

The Brands Masterpiece collection celebrates famous products from around the world, including popular items from De’Longhi, DULTON, and instax.

The Brands In My Handbag UTs feature motifs inspired by the contents of a woman’s purse, and Cats are Purrfect! UTs offer graphics drawn by cat lovers.

From Calligraphy to Graphic Design

The SHODO ART collection features works by three well-known Japanese calligraphers that showcase Japanese attitudes to hospitality and consideration.

On the other hand, a collaboration with graphic design master Peter Saville features oversized T-shirts with the visual artist’s signature street fashion masterpieces.

Reel Love

The WOMEN IN MOVIES collection harks back on noteworthy scenes and lines from such motion pictures as The Devil Wears Prada and La La Land that turn them into graphic prints.

The Sci-Fi Movie Collection features neo-futuristic interpretations of the world and advanced technologies that excite the imagination, especially with items commemorating The Matrix and Blade Runner.

Start them Young

UT designs for Kids shows off collaborations ranging from game and manga themes to popular fashion brands, and a L.O.L. Surprise!TM collection that girls will enjoy. Also on offer is a special UT collaboration with London’s Natural History Museum, with original designs featuring dinosaurs and other exhibits.

Then there’s the UTs line for babies featuring Lucky Charm, a picture book by author Utako Yamada, and the designs of Scandinavian textile brand Finlayson. The collection also features designs from such popular picture books as Curious George and Gaspard et Lisa.

As of now, the UT 2020 Spring/Summer Collection is available in all UNIQLO stores nationwide. In sharing this new range of designs, the global retail giant has already begun putting in place guidelines that puts premium on the safety and health of consumers and its workforce in response to government easing off quarantine measures in the region.

In an advisory, Uniqlo wrote, “Nothing is more important to us than prioritizing the health and well-being of our customers and employees. We will be implementing a number of special measures to provide a safe and comfortable experience for everybody.”

This said, in the face of the new normal, Uniqlo will requiring all shoppers and its staff to wear masks while inside stores of your preference, employing a limitation on the number of shoppers to maintain a safe distance from each other.
