SINGAPORE — Singer-songwriter Marcus Lee finally makes his album debut with ‘For You, I Can’, (为了你,我可以)’ is the fruition of Marcus’ past 3 years of releasing music. The record is dedicated to everyone who has experienced love, has loved someone, or desires to  believe in love again.

For You, I Can’ narrates the journey of love across three chapters of songs, that express the  passion of the honeymoon period, the sorrow of a fresh breakup, and the eventual release  after moving on. It leans heavily towards the genre of Pop, with each track possessing the  potential to become the next big karaoke hit, or a chart-topping radio station earworm.

“This entire album was self-produced, and it represents a piece of my innermost thoughts and  emotions that I would like to share with the world,” said Marcus Lee.

“Every song in the album is inspired by my own personal experiences. For the longest time,  I’ve always avoided love because I felt I didn’t deserve it. Through songwriting, I managed to  find an avenue to express by feelings and move forward with more hope in my heart. The  album highlights the different stages in a journey of love and captures the most genuine  emotions felt in specific moments. I hope that these songs would speak to you no matter  what stage of love you may be at.”

Besides the singles that Marcus has previously released, the album will also introduce 5 new  original compositions, including lead single ‘One More Chance (请给我多一次的机会)’.

The aftermath of a breakup usually leaves a person full of regret and sorrow. ‘One More  Chance’ portrays the helplessness of looking back at better times and wondering how things  may have played out differently if certain things were not said and done.

The lead single is arranged by Singapore’s veteran musician Derek Chua, who has worked with  the likes of Rainie Yang, Stefanie Sun, Tiger Huang and Ricky Hsiao, among many others.

For the mixing process of this single, Marcus approached Darren Sim, a frequent collaborator of Stefanie Sun, who has worked on some of the pop star’s most well-known work, such as  ‘Cloudy Day (天黑黑)’, ‘Encounter (遇见)’, ‘Against The Light (逆光)’ and ‘What I Miss (我怀 念的)’.

Besides ‘One More Chance’, Darren Sim also participated in the production process of five  other songs in the album — ‘Without Reason (没道理我可以)’, ‘I Still Love You (我还是爱着 你)’, ‘Love Once Again (最初的期待)’, ‘Find A Way’ and ‘Blue Sky (蔚蓝天空)’.

Besides the two local music maestros, Marcus also engaged the help of Grammy award winning music engineer Richard Furch to handle the mastering of ‘Without Reason’ (没道理 我可以), adding the finishing touches to make the song a masterpiece. The song remains  Marcus’ highest streamed song, chalking in close to 270,000 streams on Spotify.

In a journey of love, obstacles are unavoidable, and may sometimes leave you heartbroken.  With the accompaniment of Marcus’ healing ballads, those who are feeling down can finally  find some solace with ‘For You, I Can’.
