‘Babylon’ Nabs Five Golden Globes Noms Including Best Picture

GLOBAL NEWS—The lavish and provocative epic tale about early Hollywood, Babylon directed by Damien Chazelle, has just received five Golden Globe nominations, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

The film is an original epic set in 1920s Los Angeles, starring Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Diego Calva, as well as Jean Smart, Jovan Adepo, and Li Jun Li.

It traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood. It is a story of outsized ambition and outrageous excess.

Three of its principal cast members scored major acting nominations: Best Actress for Margot Robbie as Nellie LaRoy, an unknown actress who is trying to get her big break into show business, Best Actor for Mexico’s Diego Calva as Manny Torres, a young dreamer who will literally do anything for a Hollywood career and Best Supporting Actor for Brad Pitt as Jack Conrad, a silent movie star at the top of his game.

The film’s haunting music also captured a Best Original Score nomination for composer Justin Hurwitz.

Babylon will be released in Philippine theaters on February 1, 2023.
