A-list Powerhouse Netflix Film ‘Don’t Look Up’ Holds New York World Premiere

Screening Room

NEW YORK CITY—World-anticipated A-list-heavy Netflix catastrophe flick Don’t Look Up just made its premiere early on this month at the Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York, joined by its band of top actors from Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Jonah Hill, Tyler Perry, Scott Mescudi, Ron Perlman, Tomer Sisley, Himesh Patel, Paul Guilfoyle, along with its writer, director and producer Adam McKay.

Don’t Look Up follows the tale of Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence), an astronomy graduate, and professor Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio), who then make an astounding discovery of a comet orbiting within the solar system, that poses perilous danger to earth. The other problem? No one really seems to care. As it turns out, warning mankind about a planet-killer is an inconvenient fact to navigate.

With the help of Dr. Oglethorpe (Rob Morgan), the student-professor tandem take on a tedious media tour that takes them from the office of an indifferent  President Orlean (Meryl Streep) and her sycophantic son and Chief of Staff, Jason (Jonah Hill), to the airwaves of The Daily Rip, an upbeat morning show hosted by Brie (Cate Blanchett) and Jack (Tyler Perry).

With barely six months until the comet makes impact, managing the 24-hour news cycle and gaining the attention of the social media obsessed public before it’s too late proves shockingly comical—what will it take to get the world to just look up?
