Years after the film release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows II, fans of the movie franchise are still hung up on the story of the eleven-year-old boy who went to Hogwarts and defeated evil for good.
Since the initial release of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone on big screens in 2001, the series has since been able to amass box office gross amounting to $7,743,431,572.
The immense popularity of Harry Potter is also evident in the number of times that its books have been sold and translated to different languages. As of February 2018, the titles have been bought more than 500 million times worldwide, and were translated to 80 languages.
The cultural impact of Harry Potter refuses to die regardless of the wide array of newer films and bestsellers that came after it. In exciting news to open 2021, rumors have it that the “boy who lived” will once again dominate screens and social media feeds one more time.
The Hollywood Reporter reports, a live-action Harry Potter TV series is currently in early development at HBO Max.
“Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that executives at the WarnerMedia-backed streamer have engaged in multiple conversations with potential writers exploring various ideas that would bring the beloved property to television. Sources say broad ideas have been discussed as part of the early-stage exploratory meetings,” the report said.

Another Twitter user said that fans would not mind getting a redo of the books–an expanded version even.
Despite the hype, the report clarified that as of this writing, no writers or talent are currently attached to the TV series as no deals have been made yet. “There are no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform,” HBO Max and Warner Bros. reaffirmed in a statement.
Even without a specific details divulged for the Harry Potter live-action series just yet, it is still reassuring for fans to see that there are initial steps being considered to develop the show.
For now, fans will have to wait and see what HBO Max and Warner Bros studios are brewing for them, because obviously, something wicked this way comes. *Get it?*
