Philippines officially opens its doors to Ukraine refugees

The conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues as Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine last February 24, 2022.

Currently, neighboring countries from the European Union and in Asia such as Japan and  Philippines have opened their doors for Ukraine refugees.

In the Philippines, according to Justice Secretary, Menardo Guevarra, noted that “the country will accept refugees for humanitarian reasons.” He added, “So far, no Ukrainian citizen has sought asylum in the Philippines.”

On Wednesday, President Rodrigo Duterte publicized the Executive Order 163 signed on February 28, under the international agreements stating that, “In this regard, the state shall closely monitor and ensure full protection of the rights of persons of concern to liberty and security, and freedom of movement. Subject to applicable laws and issuances, the minimum standards for the treatment of refugees shall be assured.”

Kim Kardashian declared as legally single, drops “West” from her name

Global reality television personality Kim Kardashian officially drops “West” from her name after being granted the first of two parts off the Internet star’s request for a “bifurcated divorce” with controversial musician Kanye West on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Kardashian virtually attended the hearing before a Los Angeles judge while the infamous rapper was represented by a lawyer.

With their divorce case tried in two parts: the first one being the recently concluded hearing concerning her civil status, and the other one concerning the custody of their children to happen in August.

Kardashian first filed for divorce on February 19, 2021, ending eight years of years of their marriage. In an interview with Vogue, Kardashian revealed that she will now choose her happiness over anyone else’s: “For so long, I did what made other people happy… I think in the last two years I decided I’m going to make myself happy – and that feels really good.”

Since her filing of divorce last year, Ye openly and, ever-so-controversially, expressed objections through social media that made the world turn against him for toxicities manifested to his ex-wife amid presently being in a relationship.

In the past couple of months, Ye was called out for posting private conversations between him and now-ex wife on Instagram, sending her a truck full of roses on Valentine’s Day, buying of the property across the Kardashian’s house just so he is close to her and their kids, and continuing leaving unsolicited comments on her posts on Instagram.

Many have actually stood behind the equally-controversial pop culture icon, on her debacle with the constant “attacks” from the former husband. ELLE writes of this harassment, to which, many of Ye’s fans responded in support of the rapper in the form of memes and online trolling, “Kardashian is a woman of great means and wealth, which leads people to believe that she isn’t in the imminent danger that women of far less fortune are. Be that as it may, the passive and active enabling of West’s behavior sends a signal not only to Kardashian but also victims of this type of harassment, or even more serious abuse, that what they’re experiencing is not to be taken seriously.”
