MANILA, Philippines — Self-dubbed as “Asia’s finest softboi candy pop band,” One Click Straight drops latest single “Wake Me Up” under Island Records Philippines. The song was composed by Tim and Sam Marquez and arranged by the band. It was recorded at Spryta and Hotspice Studio.
“Wake Me Up” has an upbeat feel that is consistent with their neo-synth pop-punk sound. The song is about the frustrations of losing oneself in order to belong. It talks about the search for something real in a society that is obsessed with social relevance. While not actually providing a solution, One Click Straight hopes that the song will help remind people when they forget who they are.
This is the band’s latest single after their 2020 SSH EP. The four-member band continues to demonstrate their musical and artistic progression as a result of individual growth as persons and musicians. Their music tackles themes from emotional expression and personal experiences to common concerns and relatable incidents. In so doing, the band shows why their music can connect with audiences from all over.
One Click Straight is a neo-synth punk-pop band from the south of Manila, Philippines. OCS consists of Toffer Marquez, Sam Marquez, Tim Marquez, and Joel Cartera. They are known for Nostalgic, their first EP (2017), The Midnight Emotion, their debut album (2018), the Harana Coma EP (2020), and their SSH EP (2020).
While heavily influenced by indie rock and New Wave, One Click Straight has always been a reflection of the four members’ authenticity and passion, shown through their experimental yet honest music and lyrics.
