Savor a ‘VIVID’ Mood with Rich Brian’s Hottest New Release Single Featuring $NOT

Listening Station

GLOBAL NEWSVIVID,” which was produced by Rich Brian, has a flute-laden loop over an old-school R&B guitar lick from the 1990s, skittering 808s, and longing strings.

Brian and $NOT engage in a captivating duel in which they exchange lyrics about the ups and downs of relationships. It builds towards a biting send-off with the advice to, “Turn your frown around, nobody gives a fuck.”

Rich Brian thwarts off his feelings at a golf course, swinging at frowning golf balls, hoping to absolve his worries with a hole-in-one shot in the accompanying visual, which brings “VIVID” to life.

“This song was the result of this one week I started listening to Musiq Soulchild & thought to myself what if there’s hard ass 808’s on this, and turns out it sounds pretty good,” Rich Brian says of the track.

One of the first Indonesian artists to play a solo headline set at Coachella, Rich Brian made history in April. At 88rising’s renowned “Head In The Clouds Forever” spectacular, he made the song’s live debut on the mainstage prior to his own performance.

A blistering performance of the song was also played by him in front of an audience of over 35,000 people at the fourth annual “Head In The Clouds Festival” in Pasadena this past August, which helped to build excitement and anticipation for its official release.

The single comes after this year’s surprising EP, Brightside, which was released earlier. The four-track project has already tailed tens of millions of streams, views, and accolades from critics all around the world.

Pitchfork hailed it as “exhilarating,” and HYPEBEAST proclaimed, “Brightside is Rich Brian’s love letter to rap and serves as a reminder to listeners that at his core, he is still very much a rapper.” Meanwhile, V Man applauded, “This EP sees the artist lean into his emotions and, one could argue, offer up the most intimate version of himself we’ve seen so far. But don’t worry—Brian’s signature punchy rap verses are still very much present as well.”

Brian has made history by becoming the first artist from Indonesia to reach ten million Spotify listeners per month.
