In 2022, the Panasonic Manila Fashion Festival (PMFF) is gearing up for its second year taking on the virtual stage. In partnership with GO LIFESTYLE Group Inc., this year, the festival is preparing to transform itself into an industry-wide event featuring an impressive roster of talented designers that showcase Filipino design talent.
With a number of setbacks that halted operations and delays to the festival, now that the situation is taking a turn for the better, PMFF is once again determined to celebrate the excellent talent and design masterpiece of Filipino fashion artists and brands.
With Season 13 on its way, various designers are coming together to showcase their talents in support and celebration of the growth of the fashion industry in the Philippines. Check out the plethora of multi-talented designers and their mesmerizing designs that are set to be premiered in the festival.
Albert Andrada

Luxurious, opulent, elegant – these are the words typically associated with Albert Andrada’s designs. The Filipino designer prides himself in offering unique and elaborate designs for the elegant and accomplished woman. With numerous local and international success and accolades along with a massive following, Andrada’s designs have long proven to be something to look out for.

Andrada’s collection “Secrets of Atlantis” takes inspiration from the beauty and design of the ocean, the coral reef being the Earth’s treasure. The collection is a vibrant reflection of the deep blue sea that really showcases his ingenuity for elegance and opulence.
Alodia Cecilia

Focusing on showcasing the surreal yet mesmerizing dichotomy of design, Alodia Cecilia is a champion for freedom of thought and self-expression in her designs. Combining elements of complexity and simplicity, this designer values the beautiful paradox of weaving natural and earthy elements with a minimalistic touch and mindset.

Cecilia’s collection is all about new beginnings and feelings of hope. “Seed” showcases feelings of bliss, tranquility, and optimism in times of darkness, hopeful for a new chapter.
Aranaz

Aranaz is all about appreciation for Filipino tradition in their designs. With humble beginnings producing artisan handbags, the brand is now taking its indigenous and artisan crafts to the fashion world beyond our borders. Bringing forth a renewed appreciation for local arts and craftsmanship, Aranaz is making beloved traditions relevant to the modern woman.

The “Weave Play” collection features expertly done weaving techniques using natural materials put into beautiful and sophisticated silhouettes. Bended rattan, crocheted raffia, braided woven panels, and an array of intertwined leather comprise the building blocks of this season’s pieces.

When thinking of luxurious resort-wear and staycation aesthetic, Azucar’s unique and chic designs are on top of everyone’s brand recall consciousness. Arleen Sipat-Sutton takes the Filipina to sunny and beautiful destinations with her wonderfully crafted and exemplary designs, bringing a one-of-a-kind experience to its wearers.

Barba

Silent and strong with a touch of simplicity, these are the designs Barba is best known for. With emphasis on sourcing and manufacturing their pieces locally, Barba brings designs and clothing that is both accessible and appealing at the same time.

The Barba “ABELISSIMA” collection showcases what the brand has always been doing to highlight the use of Abel Iloko. In combination with other fabrics like denim and linen so one can easily adapt these pieces into their daily wardrobe. Corset belts and bustiers to add a touch of Filipino to dress up your everyday jeans and t-shirt.
While a floral wrap dress worn with a denim and Abel oversized jacket if it gets nippy in the beach. An unlined trench dress that goes from 9 to after 5. For men, using Magdalena Gamayo’s bold patterns and needle-point weaves for shirts and jackets. Always striving for their pieces to be at once cosmopolitan and Filipino.

“Move” is a collection that is an expression of fashion during the post pandemic. With the new sense of optimism, style encourages us to embrace the new movement from almost two years of stagnation. Yes, whether big or small, it’s time to party with frocks and frills for the season anywhere from our homes to the streets to the beach.
As fashion celebrates style in 2022 with all its fringe benefits. Fashion is fearlessly frayed for its needed boost from too much domestic affairs. From cute detail trimmings to long frills, there’s no excuse not to shake your mood to the bright side.

Daryl Maat’s fashion and design is all about style and elegance. With pieces that showcase the designer’s talent for bringing the best elements and features of its wearer into a fashionable light, one would definitely feel as if they have breathed new life into their style and aesthetic.

“Youthquake” was coined by Diana Vreeland in 1965. It is a cultural movement that involved music, pop culture and changed the landscape of the fashion industry. Youth culture during the ’60s were the primary source of inspiration for this movement.
Ditta Sandico

Marketing herself as the “wrap artiste” of Philippine fashion, Ditta Sandico focuses on designing wraps made of banaca, a fabric made of banana and abaca that she pioneered. Her fashion and designs were inspired by her experience in growing up and immersing herself with the Mangyan tribes of Mindoro which served as her first teachers in the art of weaving.
Today, her advocacy for sustainability and passion for creating smart and timeless pieces using natural Filipino resources sees herself having success and recognition in the local crafts community as well as the international scene.

Emir Yamamoto

Taking inspiration and elements from various different design principles, Emir Yamamoto brings together historical ideas into modern vessels and pieces that highlight his revolutionary design thoughts and principles. An experienced designer-artist and a master of his craft, Yamamoto puts emphasis on the aesthetic and creating an artisanal product in his designs.

Clean, tamed and minimalistic direction, mainly inspired by understated wealth, very subdued but structured is what Yamamoto’s collection “Mogul” communicates. This season’s silhouette is directed towards effortless shapes and comfortable structure that celebrates every gender and body shape. Some pieces have epicine (genderless) spirit which makes the clothing versatile. Ageless, genderless and shape shifting.
Last season was injected with retrograde and bold colors, but this time, the color palette is dark and almost masculine, interspersed with feminine texture. Intended to not show complicated contraptions and fasteners send a message of convenience to buyers, it is important to feel the market’s pulse. With people still reeling from the effects of the pandemic, Emir aims for the collection to have an elegant and facile look.
Jun Escario

Cebuano-raised fashion designer Jun Escario is a household name in the fashion industry. Most known for his romantic wedding gowns and exquisite evening wear, he has established himself as the forefront for haute couture in the Philippines. Escario’s designs bring formality and elegance to its wearer, captivating those blessed enough to view them.

“Sara & Akira” explores the relationship between fashion and gender. It is an ode to the times, connecting and exploring the relationship between fashion and gender in today’s dominant cohorts like Generation Z, the Alphas and the Millennials.
June Samson Pugat

Eos, in Greek Mythology, is the goddess of dawn and sister of the sun god, Helios. It also ushers a new design direction for June Samson Pugat’s House of Helios, as the name for his limited collection of the brand’s less formal line, called EOS.
The take-off point would be the colors of dawn splashed over – on the flat lay – geometric cut garments with details inspired by what could either be unfinished or unfolded origami in custom dyed jusi, linen, local inabel, and treated denim and chambray.
Kaye Morales

Inspired by the art and streetwear of the inimitable London underground style, Kaye Morales’ style is all about intertwining opposing designs, making for a daring yet sophisticated and elegant principle. A trendsetter and visionary in her own right, Morales’ eye for her designs creates a statement that is bold, distinctive, and singular.

Representing dreams, unconscious desires, series of thoughts, images occurring in a person’s mind during sleep is the artistic direction Kaye’s collection “Nocturne” is heading towards. For this collection, Kaye will be presenting punk streetwear pieces and through creative expression she wishes to transform life’s occasional ruptures into art.
Kelvin Morales

Kelvin Morales combines contemporary and experimental themes into his designs, bringing forth an artistic narrative and peculiar forms into his pieces. He is all about experimenting and going against the societal and cultural beauty norms, challenging society’s idealized beauty standards. Kelvin Morales’ designs aim to create conversations and spark dialogues in and beyond the realm of fashion.

“Hazard Blue” is about the future dystopia. At present, Morales has studied and observed people getting genetically deformed because of toxic chemical exposure. He took inspiration from that concept and translated it through pieces with futuristic tailoring and semi rugged appeal.
This questions our actions as causes of this current pandemic and other calamities we are experiencing. He wants to ultimately bring light and consciousness to the toxic waste and pollution brought about by our careless mindset.
Lorico

Jerome Lorico aims to create a directional and creative outlet with its fashion and designs. The brand envisions creating aesthetically pleasing products that create a narrative that revolves around certain cultures, issues, and ideas that the audience can connect with.

Lorico’s collection is an introspection about the mysterious intersection of modernity and traditional spirituality, featuring urban wear that twist and follow the bizarre and rustic spirit of certain FIlipino culture. “Speculo” is a mirror or a portal to a world between what is there and the barely seen.

“Joli Garçon” is inspired by the changing times, as the world progresses back to what it was – an urban struggle of finding the balance between work and play. Centered with tailoring techniques, the new Marc Rancy collection infuses touches of romance, flair and sensuality into an otherwise masculine silhouette. Ballroom culture is a subculture of the LGBTQIA+ community in which you can be whoever you want to be at a ball. Where there are categories that cater to everyone, even cis gendered people.
“Playground” is inspired by the chaotic, surreal, colorful and fun ballroom culture of New York City mixed with the eccentric 1990s style of clothing. The colors for this season focus on light and pastel tones combined with fuchsia pink, bronze green, lemon yellow, and hints of metallic tones. There is a play on mixing different fabrics and joining them together by embroidery and/or embossed sublimated prints. Cotton shirting, ribbed jersey, power mesh, cotton organdy, ultra-fine polyester, and jersey, are some of the fabrics featured. This collection is targeted towards people who are not afraid to experiment with colors and texture, might be an artist or art collector or people who like something unique in their closet.
R.A.F.

Skin. Flesh. Raw. These are the motifs of S’TOI|C’s collection. Skin signifies the texture and treatment on the fabric, asymmetrical netting to mimic the different layers of the skin. Flesh is the hue of our debut collection. And raw since it is the brand’s premiere collection.
