Maynilad Forges Partnership with Waze to Ease Manila Traffic Flow

Industry News

Manila, Philippines – West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) shares its official partnership with Waze, the platform bringing together communities on and off the road,  in an effort to mitigate the impact of the water company’s activities on traffic flow in the metropolis.

Through Waze’s “Connected Citizens Program” (CCP), Maynilad will be uploading real-time data regarding its road-digging activities, including projects that may require road closures, to the Waze Map. This initiative is expected to promote better road safety and traffic flow, as drivers who use the Waze app can avoid possible traffic buildup near Maynilad worksites.

“We strive to alleviate the effect of our roadworks activities on the motoring public. Through this partnership with Waze, we can empower drivers by providing real-time information about Maynilad roadworks that will allow them to better plan their daily routes,” said Maynilad CEO and President Ramoncito S. Fernandez.

“Waze has always been committed to bring cities and citizens together to resolve traffic situations, such as road closure and construction that can cause travel delays. Our partnership with Maynilad is a strong example of how a meaningful collaboration can be built to create the smart cities of tomorrow,” said Krishna Kumar, APAC Regional Manager of Waze.

Waze is where people and technology meet to solve transportation challenges. It’s a platform that empowers communities to contribute road data, edit Waze maps, and carpool to improve the way we move about the world. Thanks to Wazers everywhere, Waze is able to partner with municipalities and transit authorities to reduce traffic and congestion—leveraging current infrastructure while impacting city planning.
