The Recently Launched Saigosan Unwraps a Novel Style to Japanese Cuisine

Food & Drinks

MANILA, Philippines—Promising a unique take on Japanese cuisine, the Red Crab Group of Restaurants has officially opened Saigosan in BGC, Taguig City.

Saigosan is Chef Chris Oronce’s take on an izakaya serving delectable burgers, chicken, and donburi. The Nobu-trained chef had an idea for a small “eatery” that would target young families, especially fathers and sons who enjoy Mr. Miyagi and the gang, old samurai movies, anime, manga, TV shows, and movies with a Japanese theme.

Owner Raymund Magdaluyo, who is a father, wants Saigosan to be a destination for both fathers and sons.

Due to its distinctive design, entering the store shuttles you to a dreamlike Japan placed between a commuter train and a ramen shop.

The store stands out and draws attention from onlookers largely owing to its vibrant colors and neon lighting. The interior’s art pays homage to Japanese cult classics, bringing an inviting atmosphere for visitors of all ages.

Japanese comfort food that is well-known and adored is served at Saigosan. Sashimi platters, ebi tempura, classic gyoza, and spicy salmon rolls are all available. However, they do like to give classics new spins for variety.

They have their own variation on the California roll in the form of their mini volcano rolls. Along with their coffee jelly and matcha panna cotta with jelly, their truffle wagyu steak macaroni is sure to win over both parents and kids.

An absolute must-try for burger lovers is the grilled teriyaki burger in brioche buns with onion rings. The roast beef sukiyaki burger is for people who like something a little different. The tori teri sando and tori katsu sando are both options if you want something that you and your kids will both like.

What about chicken? The majority of the food served at Saigosan contains chicken. Traditional wings and tenders are available with teriyaki, wasabi mayo, and creamy mushroom sauce as three sauce options.

You can’t go wrong ordering their fried wings stuffed with gyoza from their menu. With crispy chicken katsu served in a miso-paintan broth, the fried chicken ramen is a contemporary attack of a traditional dish. Additionally, they have chicken katsudon if you’d rather eat rice.

Their chasu bacon and egg donburi is a hit among customers when it comes to donburi. Furthermore, they offer their own version of the buta kakuni don and traditional fare like grilled tori teri don and yakiniku donburi with egg. The miso butter lobster is a bonus for seafood lovers.

Saigosan cuisine is suitable for both young people and those who are still young at heart. Indeed, it is the place to go if you’re looking for somewhere to unwind after a long day at work or a quick lunch.

When choosing where to eat at Uptown Mall and elsewhere in Bonifacio Global City, they want to be at the top of customers’ lists. Their meals are incredibly good for satisfying cravings before or after watching a movie because they are close to the theater.

The same people behind The Red Crab Alimango House, Blackbeard’s Seafood Island, and Pier at Clawdaddy’s are behind Saigosan. With the help of Chef Chris, they were able to mix traditional Japanese dishes with modern favorites.

Saigosan is located at 3rd Floor, Uptown Mall, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. It is open daily during mall hours from 10AM to 10PM. For inquiries or reservations, contact Saigosan at 0915 812 6855 or email them at saigosan.bgc@gmail.com.
