GLOBAL RELEASE—Through the years, Longchamp’s famous cuir de Russie—Russian leather—has long been a familiar feature found in its collections, not only because it forms the flap and handles of the iconic Le Pliage bag.
For Spring/Summer 2022, however, this emblematic material steps into the spotlight and lends its firm structure and distinctive grain to the season’s must-have shape: the bucket bag from the new “Cuir de Russie.”
This “Cuir de Russie” bucket bag owns all the qualities to become the perfect summer basket bag. Its size is large enough for everyday essentials, but small and light enough to be dangled from the hand, wrist or elbow by its generously rounded handle.

Its colors, on the other hand showcases a palette of six shades, including three jewel brights—yellow, orange and green—alongside a gorgeous garnet red, a burnished brown and a beautiful jet black.
Lastly, its (minimal) hardware: a pale gold-tone press-stud referencing the codes of Le Pliage, with which the otherwise open bag can be snapped shut, securing its contents and inside flat pocket. Discreetly embossed beneath the press-stud is the Longchamp racehorse, just in case the Russian leather did not suffice to proclaim the provenance of this thoroughbred design.

The “Cuir de Russie” bucket bag is joined by two smaller yet equally stylish companions: a four-slot card holder and a phone case with two card slots and a Le Pliage-style flap. Both come on a long leather lace, enabling them to be worn around the neck, as well as attached to the handle of the bag.
