Aspiring Animators and Filmmakers are Called to Join this Filipino Pixar Director’s Online Masterclass

Events & Festivals

Fostering a community of movers who celebrate and inspire lives through films and filmmaking, Rebelde, founded by young independent filmmaker J. E. Tiglao, has since organized filmmaking workshops called the Rebelde Class.

In its 14th batch, in light of the world’s current state, Rebelde takes on a new way to continue and strive for its advocacies with and for the filmmaking community through exclusive panel discussions staged now on a virtual platform.

In a historic first, Filipino Pixar director and Academy Awards Nominee, Ronnie Del Carmen, is tapped to hold a filmmaking talk helmed by the community this coming Saturday, October 17, 2020. The online event is set to be hosted by Pamela Reyes (producer of Birdshot) and Mikoy Morales (actor, musician).

del Carmen is an esteemed Filipino animation writer, story artist, story supervisor, and production designer. He has since beefed up a portfolio from co-directing and co-writing the 2015 Pixar film, Inside Out, where he was then nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. He was also the story supervisor on Pixar’s tenth full-length computer- animated film, Up and directed its accompanying short film, Dug’s Special Mission

Since its inception, Rebelde served as a diverse community of aspiring filmmakers from different parts of the country. Together with its founder, Tiglao, they have made films that have been showcased at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, Cinema One Originals, and other film festivals in the local and international scene. Last year, Rebelde made their first feature film, Metamorphosis, the first Filipino intersex film, that bagged the most at the Cinema One Originals festival awards night.

Rebelde is also behind breakthrough events like the Rebelde Film Camp, a unique jamboree of filmmakers in a secluded area to learn filmmaking and to celebrate the magic of cinema. It has gathered more than five hundred filmmakers and film-lovers alike to learn from legendary filmmaking mentors such as Ricky Lee, and National Artist for films Kidlat Tahimik, to name a few in an aim to offer a more immersive and accessible film education to everyone.

Aspiring filmmakers looking for affordable filmmaking classes with topnotch mentors, are welcomed to learn from a Pixar director, no less. To join, go to this link: bit.ly/RebeldeClass14 to register.

Be a part of the Rebelde community by joining these exclusive workshops and get a chance to meet established filmmakers as your mentors.
