Penn Badgley Returns in Hit Netflix Thriller this December

Following the glory days of his appearance in iconic teen drama, Gossip Girl, Penn Badgley, or everyone’s favorite Dan Humphrey, has since been making the rounds on television and films starring in other projects like John Tucker Must Die and who could forget, the Emma Stone career-making teen commentary flick, Easy A, not to mention his long-standing career as frontman for his indie rock band, MOTHXR.

But last year, it was his character as the omnipresent narrator in the Netflix surprise hit, You, that propelled him back into the global limelight–this time as a scheming, murderous, Joe Goldberg.

When we last saw Joe, his heart was tragically broken and his past just caught up with him in the form of long-lost ex-girlfriend Candace (Ambyr Childers) — a woman now hell-bent on teaching him a lesson.

Season two finds him on the run from Candace, prompting him to leave New York City for his own personal hell: Los Angeles. But then he ends up meeting a new woman, played by Victoria Pedretti, who is known for her role as Nell Crain, then the Bent-Neck Lady, in another Netflix favorite, The Haunting of Hill House, whom he ends up falling in love with–yet again. This then opens the lid to many complications and history bound to repeat itself.

Badgley, proving to be effective on his role as the lovelorn lead in the series, has garnered raves and adulation from fans of him and of the show. However, he remained very vocal about the idea that his character does not deserve to be “romanticized”–famously shutting down “thirty” online fan posts on Joe seen as a casanova, than the murderous, psychopathic character that he is.

The season two cast includes James Scully (Forty Quinn), Carmela Zumbado (Delilah Alves), Jenna Ortega (Ellie Alves), and Chris D’Elia (Henderson). Developed by Sera Gamble & Greg Berlanti based on the book by Caroline Kepnes,

Padgley returns for the second season of You on Netflix this December 26. Catch up and binge on what happened on the first season before the new tangled web of lies and deceit unfolds this December. Refresh yourselves on this Season 1 trailer here:
