‘6 Underground’ Tops Most Streamed Releases on Netflix in 2019, Filipino Films ‘Eerie’ and ‘Miss Granny’ Make the List

Much can be said about the wealth of streaming content we have all been blessed with this past year. From binge-worthy series to movies that hit all marks among viewers, content powerhouse, Netflix recently released top titles that left a lasting impression among its Filipino user base.

Recently-released Netflix original film, 6 Underground, helmed by director Michael Bay and topbilled by Hollywood A-lister Ryan Reynolds was the most streamed release on the platform followed by the Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston thriller-comedy reunion, Murder Mystery. Coming in close third is the Filipino horror Eerie, directed by young Filipino film genius Mikhail Red. Another Filipino film, Miss Granny, starring Sarah Geronimo also, made it into the list. Netflix’s Original 6 Underground is also this year’s most watched movie released in the platform among viewers in the Philippines.  Filipino movies such as Mikhail Red’s Eerie, Viva Films’ Miss Granny, and Ang Babaeng Allergic sa Wifi also made  it to this year’s most popular movie titles  in the country. The Witcher then dominated the most popular series for 2019. The Filipinos’ love for Korean titles is further exemplified by the inclusion of Hotel Del Luna, Kingdom, and Love Alarm to the most popular series list for 2019. Several other fan favorite Netflix Original Series such as Umbrella Academy, Sex Education, and Stranger Things also made it to this year’s list.
