Netflix’ First Look on ‘Stranger Things 4’ is the Teaser Everyone Hoped but Nobody Expected

On Valentine’s Day, streaming giant Netflix dropped a mind-blowing treat for the world to see with a much-anticipated first look on the upcoming fourth season of global favorite Stranger Things.

In an ambiguous clip captioned “From Russia, With Love”, Netflix shared a 50-second teaser on what to expect for the return of the supernatural thriller. The clip left no trace of series favorites Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Will nor Lucas but a surprising frame showing a returning friend, Jim Hopper played by David Harbour.

Back in Season 3 (read away if you don’t want any spoiler), much to fan disappointment and heartbreak, the series ended with an unexpected sacrifice from one of the show’s most reliable character. While nothing was set in stone, the bittersweet season-ender shocked viewers, but kept the world hoping that the character is, indeed, alive.

In a statement, Stranger Things creators, the Duffer brothers shared, “We’re excited to officially confirm that production on Stranger Things 4 is now underway–and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper! Although it’s not all good news for our ‘American’; he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human…and other. Meanwhile, back in the states, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything….”

They added, “Season 4 is shaping up to be the biggest and most frightening season yet, and we cannot wait for everyone to see more. In the meantime — pray for the American.”

In a separate statement, executive producer and director Shawn Levy was reported to comment, “From the start, Stranger Things has been inspiring to all of us lucky enough to work on it. My adventure here in Lithuania in bringing the reveal of ‘The American’ to life has been a huge challenge but an even bigger inspiration, and we are so thankful to the city of Vilnius and the beautiful country of Lithuania for their hospitality.”

He went on to say, “The Duffers and I have been working alongside the brilliant Netflix team for months to pull off this surprise. All the hard work was worth it, however, to bring our fans — the greatest fans in the world — this epic reveal they’ve been hoping and waiting for. And this is only the beginning….”

Apart from the major answer to many burning fan questions on the state of Hopper, no further details on the show’s release date has been shared. Right now, all we have is this generous plot twist to hold on to, before the show’s big return.
