Dulaang UP Raises its Curtain Again to Chew Over Political Turmoil in an Intimate, Heated Dinner

Stage & Performing Arts

MANILA, Philippines—Truth be told, as vivid as it has been, we have witnessed the most polarizing national elections in recent history. With our personal relationships on the line, are we willing to sacrifice our principles and ideals for unity? And for what price?

To heal, move on, and leave the remnants of the war behind, Dulaang UP opens its 45th Theatre Season with THE RECONCILIATION DINNER, a new one-act play by Floy Quintos, directed by Dexter M. Santos.

Through the portrayal of peerless casts and the production’s creative genius, the play follows the lives of close family friends—the Medinas and the Valderamas—who are forced to confront their personal differences in the face of looming political chaos in the Philippines.

This dark comedy features a powerhouse ensemble led by seasoned actors Stella Cañete-Mendoza and Frances Makil-Ignacio. Joining them are Randy Medel Villarama, Jojo Cayabyab, Nelsito Gomez, Harriette Mozelle, and Dulaang UP first-timer Phi Palmos.

Collaborating with Quintos and Santos are Charles Yee (set), Mitoy Sta. Ana (costume), Loren Rivera (lights), Arvy Dimaculangan (sounds), Steven Tansiongco (video and poster), and Jojit Lorenzo (photography).

Take heed how they bring the conversation to the table as THE RECONCILIATION DINNER is set to run from November 18 to 20 at the UP Theater Main Hall Stage, UP Diliman, Quezon City. Tickets are available via Ticket2Me (https://ticket2me.net/e/36022). Additionally, the production will have a limited video-on-demand release via Ticket2Me.
