52 Years of Art and Culture at CCP Are Celebrated This Month with Resident Artists Showcase

Stage & Performing Arts

MANILA, Philippines — The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is set to bring the spotlight to the resident companies who have once tread the halls of the Tanghalang Pambansa in an online video streaming showcase.

Titled “Mula Sa Tanghalan Naming Tahanan,” the CCP Anniversary Feature brings together the resident companies of the CCP through a selection of their various online performances, put together into a video production. As today they have taken to the screens to bring the stage to wider and wider audiences, art continues whether or not converged in our performance spaces.

The COVID-19 Pandemic and the government’s quarantine measures have since March 2020 rendered the CCP Main Building, named the Tanghalang Pambansa, indefinitely closed from any audiences and visitors. Thus began a steep learning process of working out the “how’s” of performing in the house, resulting into the remote iterations of several festivals such as the Virgin Labfest and Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.

In this process, the Cultural Center has since April 2020 launched the multi-platform CCP Channel, featuring CCP shows and curated archival documentation from the CCP Digital Archives.

Throughout the rest of the month, the CCP will be featuring daily on the CCP Facebook Page, YouTube Channel and Vimeo Showcase the works of the Ballet Philippines, Philippine Ballet Theater, Tanghalang Pilipino, Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group, the Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company, Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, UST Symphony Orchestra, Philippine Madrigal Singers and the National Music Competition for Young Artists Foundation.

Premiering on September 21, “Mula Sa Tanghalan Naming Tahanan” showcase runs at http://bit.ly/CCP52Showcase until October 6, 2021 on the CCP YouTube and Vimeo Channels.
