Thirty Years of Celebrating and Empowering Women

Philippine Wacoal Corporation, distributor of a premium brand of intimate apparel, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with the theme “Uplifting Women for 30 years.” To honor this momentous occasion, the brand is holding two major events to feature the milestones of the company over the past three decades.

“For thirty years, our brand was driven by a powerful mission: to contribute to Filipinas by helping them realize and express their desire to be beautiful,” says Philippine Wacoal Corporation president Ann Christine Palisoc. “From the products that we offer, to the advocacies we promote, our brand guarantees that every single Filipina realizes their beauty and worth.”

In celebration of the brand’s 30th year, Wacoal is organizing a five-day interactive exhibit at SM Makati. The brand is also launching a month-long campaign entitled “Wacoal’s Women of the World” that will showcase 30 notable, multi-hyphenates from different fields such as social entrepreneurship, art, and content creation/personal branding among others.

This campaign will feature inspiring stories from successful women with the hope of empowering others who aspire to also put their name in the map—both locally and internationally.  The exhibit will feature 3D and life-size key monuments from Japan, Paris, and USA, free activities per booth, and the Women of the World exhibit gallery. This interactive exhibit will be open to the public on June 26 to 30, 2019.

Prior the exhibit, Wacoal hosted a grand thanksgiving dinner gala that sought to celebrate the momentous occasion by recognizing notable people behind the brand’s success in the country. The dinner gala showcased milestones of the brand and the upcoming plans in the next years to come.

Today, Philippine Wacoal Corporation is composed of 194 employees from different parts of the country. Aside from the Philippines, the global brand is also present in different Asian countries including China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The company’s history

The first-ever Grand Winner of Asia’s Got Talent El Gamma Penumbra’s awe-inspiring performance on environmental awareness, one of the many advocacies supported by Philippine Wacoal.

In 1946, Wacoal Corporation was established as Wako-Shoji by Koichi Tsukamoto. Three years later, Wako-Shoji Co. Ltd. started as a business. Later on, the company changed its name to Wacoal Corp. and ventured to international market. It was in June of 1989 when Philippine Wacoal Corporation was established. In the same year, the brand’s first retail store was opened in Cinderella Northmall, Makati. After four years, the Direct Sales channel was launched, which opened growth opportunities for the brand in various parts of the country.

Wacoal’s growth pushed forward with the establishment of retail stores in SM, Rustans, Gaisano and Landmark—giving better access to more Filipinas, empowering them to embrace grace, beauty, and confidence from within. In 2016, the company opened its first boutique at Robinson’s Place Manila, where customers can expect more privacy and exclusivity.

Currently, there are five (5) boutiques located in Metro Manila and one (1) in Cebu.  The boutiques also offer a special collection of bras and bra pads for women who have undergone breast mastectomy.

Exciting plans

“We are extremely excited for our brand for the next years to come. We have a lot in store for the Philippine market and we guarantee that we’ll continue to uplift and empower women even in the next thirty years.”
